Key Dates

Monday 30th October — Site goes live

Please fill in your species profile up as soon as you can. This gives teachers time to introduce the event and do background work. Also use this time to play around with the site and see how it works. We will send you a “test” question to make sure everything is working for you.

Thursday 2nd November, 15:00 – 16:00 GMT — Drop-in chat session

We’ll have drop-in chat session in the staffroom so come along and say Hi! This is also a great chance to meet other champions, meet teachers taking part, ask any questions, and familiarise yourself with the chat room set up.

Monday 6th November — Voting is open!

It may be quite quiet for the first couple of days while everyone logs in, but be ready for a rush of questions. Feel free to promote your species through your networks and social media.  We will notify you (or your ‘Team Leader’, if you’re taking part as a team) by email of the live chat sessions booked by teachers. Please respond to say whether you will participate in each live chat.

6th November – 8th December — The Competition

We will notify you (or your ‘Team Leader’, if you’re taking part as a team) by email of the live chat sessions booked by teachers – or keep up to date with what’s booked on this page. Please respond to say whether you will participate in each live chat. If you know of any public groups who would like to organise a Live Chat, get them to email michaela@mangorol.la to arrange one.

Friday 8th December:

12 – 3pm  The final live chat lunch

An open live chat where you can drop in and out and talk to any students or members of the public that log in to ask their final questions. It may be busy, it may be quiet, but it’s certainly a chance to gain a few extra votes!

3pm  The final result!

The polls close for a final time and we announce the winning species of 25 Genomes: Mapping Nature’s Code!
